CLASS A

40 or 80 Hours

Occupational Objective: The graduate should be able to drive a CMV (commercial motor vehicle) weighing over 26,001 pounds, towing anything over 10,001 pounds GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating)

  • At Taylor’s CDL Training LLC our students will learn the basic skills needed to operate a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) Class A and Class B safely and efficiently. We teach our students as mandated by the FMCSA in courses such as entry level driver training, this includes our online theory course, behind the wheel road training and behind the wheel range training. The online theory course consists of powerpoints with information teaching about the different classes of CMVs they will be driving and a quiz at the end of every powerpoint to ensure they are understanding. The behind-the-wheel road portion consists of driving on the road one on one with an instructor. The behind the wheel range consists of multiple maneuvers with cones and boundary lines to ensure safe backing skills also under the supervision of an instructor. 

  • The school does not discriminate based on race, sex, religion, ethnic origin, or disability. 

     

    Prospective students must have a valid drivers license, a commercial learner's permit (otherwise known as CLP), DOT Medical examiner's  certificate. 

    ​

    Students must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or GED.

  • The required hours are 40 or 80 hours. The online theory portion of the call is 5 hours. The behind the wheel range training and road training with an instructor is 40 or 80 hours each.

  • Hands on, one on one training with an instructor, group discussions and group classes. 

    1. Objective 1: Ensure safety by constantly watching mirrors. 

    2. Objective 2: Ensure the student has a solid grasp on “behind the wheel training.” 

    1. Day One: Orientation. Introduction to class and trucks with all instructors and students. 

    2. Day Two: Vehicle Inspection Pre-Trip/Enroute/Post-Trip with instructor. Basic maneuver Straight Line Backing with instructor. Class discussion on Vehicle Controls Including: Left Turn, Right Turns, Lane Changes, Curves at Highway Speeds, and Entry and Exit on the Interstate or Controlled Access Highway with an instructor.

    3. Day Three:  Vehicle Inspection Pre-Trip/Enroute/Post-Trip with instructor. Moderate maneuvers Off-Set Backing with instructor. Shifting/Transmission & Communications/Signaling with an instructor on road.

    4. Day Four: Vehicle Inspection Pre-Trip/Enroute/Post-Trip with instructor. Advanced maneuvers  Reverse Off-set Backing with instructor.  Practice Visual Search & Speed and Space Management with an instructor on the road.

    5. Day Five:Vehicle Inspection Pre-Trip/Enroute/Post-Trip with instructor. Reverse Off-set backing/ alley docking, Parallel Parking Blind Side & Sight Side with instructor.  Practice Safe Driver Behavior & Hazard Perception with an instructor on the road.

    6. Course week may repeat depending on enrolled program. 

  • 1. Individuals may be subject to a transcript, diploma, or certificate hold when such individual owes certain debts to the School for tuition, room and board fees, or financial aid funds. Individuals will be subject to such a hold when there is a balance due over $1,000. Any funds over this amount will have to be paid within 5 days of completing the course. After the 5 days the balance will be assigned to a third-party collection agency. If an individual is subject to such a hold, their transcripts, diplomas, or certificates will not be released unless an exemption applies as outlined in section 2 of this policy.

    2. Exemptions are granted for individuals who can demonstrate that the transcript/diploma/certificate request is required for one of the following reasons: a. Job application b. Transferring to another postsecondary institution c. Applying for state, federal, or institutional financial aid d. Pursuit of opportunities in the military or national guard e. Pursuit of other postsecondary opportunities 3. Process and Procedure for Exemptions: Upon submission of a transcript/diploma/certificate request and documentation to verify an exemption, the School will review the request and make a determination regarding whether or not an exemption exists, as outlined in section 2, above. If it is determined that the individual has a valid exemption, the School will release the requested transcript/diploma/certificate. If the School determines that the individual does not meet the exemption criteria, the School will provide a written explanation of the denial of the request within seven business days.

    4. Individuals have the option to establish a payment plan for an outstanding debt. Anindividual who wishes to establish a payment plan for a debt owed to the School should contact: [Mark Taylor at 720-340-9386 or mark@taylorscdltraining.com].

    5. Complaints pertaining to HB22-1049 may be submitted to the Colorado Student Loan Ombudsperson via email to CSLSA@coag.gov.​
